Low-Fi
low-fi is a three piece indie-rock band from Boise, Idaho that lives
by the motto, “less is more.” After releasing their Self released
album “Where You Are” in September 2007 you can find low-fi playing
shows in their home state of Idaho. With influences like Built To
Spill, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and U2, i like Low-Fi because they have
that traditional indie-rock sound, with clever lyrics and a very
catchy melody low-fi is a really chill band you can listen to
whenever.
Adam Gilbert
Releasing his album “Fishing For Water” in 2007, Adam Gilbert uses his
piano as his main tool in his album. Opening almost every song with a
catchy piano riff i can only compare his music to other pianists with
his sound (Ben Folds, Billy Joel) i like Adam Gilbert’s music it
reminds me of Ben Folds a lot and sometimes a little bit of Coldplay.
i feel like his sound is a bit “Broadway” like but still good none the
less.

Half Acre Day
Describing themselves as “an amalgam of space and time, an ongoing
experiment in the alchemy of sound and word”, Half Acre Day have a
very interesting orchestral pop sound, sounds like The Shins and Death
Cab For Cutie to much more up beat bands like New Found Glory, i like
Half Acre Day because they have a variety of sound on their album, a
song for every mood. releasing their album “Fourteen trips Around The
Sun” in 2007 i think their interesting sound is almost like a freak
show, its so strange but you can’t stop listening.
Evan Spade
Playing countless shows in Texas and appearing on radio shows and
TV/films in LA, Evan Spade has been receiving the recognition he
deserves. With a traditional rock sound that everyone loves, i can
compare Evan Spade to bands such as The Academy Is… and Matchbox
Twenty. He has a classical pop rock sound that you hear on the radio
once and it’s stuck in your head all day.
Froud
All the way from Ireland, Froud has a classical Alternative Rock Sound
that you’re always in the mood to listen to, it’s hard to say who they
sound like which i guess can be good because that means they’re
different but if i had to compare them to someone the only band i can
think of is the Gin Blossoms. They have catchy lyrics and a good sound
that you can listen to whenever you’re in the mood for some classic
alternative rock.
The Adopted
“We are a rock n’ roll band. We make music, breathe souls into songs
and connect with people who listen to us. It is what we do.” The
Adopted is an Alternative, Indie, Rock band from Ontario Canada,
they’re sound is very familiar kind of like Mayday Parade, or Taking
Back Sunday, they have catchy melodies and lyrics that you can relate
to.

This week’s pick:
Rob McCulloch, born in Manchester, UK, began to play the guitar when he was seventeen. Inspired, he even began to write songs (and hide them in a shoe box under his bed!). Though he began later than many other musical marvels have, Rob shows no weaknesses. His indie sound, accompanied by original lyrics, has peaked the interest of thousands of adoring fans and a few eager newspapers.
Now 22, Rob has released two CDs, and has had four singles with radio airplay. He even won Best Singer and Best Songwriter at the New Music Awards, London in 2007. His persistence, positive reviews, and constant touring are responsible for Rob’s dedicated fan-base. It’s no wonder that people are always eager for his next hit.
You can find Rob at http://www.robmcculloch.com.This week’s pick: The Shoreline

The Shoreline
This up-and coming band has put a twist on alternative music. Their upbeat, memorable songs (like “Carolina”) make everyone who listens want to sing along. The Shoreline’s debut EP, ‘Out of Nowhere,’ delivers exactly what the audience desires: five consecutive hit songs.
Even though they are new to the musical world, The Shoreline makes no excuses. In one year they released their first EP and played at one of the most reputable cross-country shows: Warped Tour (they played in 2008). Do not expect them to disappear quickly; they should be relevant for quite some time.
