zydeco bounce

I just reviewed the music video “The Zydeco Bounce”. Zydeco music is a type of music that is a mix between Creole and Cajun music that comes from the bayou of Louisiana. After listening to the song several times, I came away with a very pleased feeling about it.  The same kind of feeling you would get listening to the Cupid Shuffle or the Wobble.  I feel that this song is a great inspiration for Louisiana, in terms of the entire trauma they have been through from Hurricane Katrina. I see it as a great theme song for all of their colleges, Tulane and LSU. I also see it as an amazing wedding party song as the steps are very easy to learn and all of the energy it has. I would give this song a positive review because it is very catchy. My one concern for this artist, TK Soul, is that this song could be a One Hit Wonder. On a whole I enjoyed listening to this song very much.

Carly Rae Jepson and Owl City

Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson “Good Time” Review
Ian Zwick
This song might as well become the national wakeup anthem. Why? Well “good Time” is that kind of song, and there are many reasons why, but first some backstory. Carly Rae Jepson came in 3rd in the hit show Canadian idle, yes she is Canadian. Although after signing with her new record company, she really kicked off her career. You probably know her best from her song “call me maybe” and if you don’t know that song by now, you probably live under a rock someone far away. Owl city was formed by Adam Young and well that’s it. Adam Young formed his electronica band back in 2007. With great success Adam has overcome his Asperger’s, which doesn’t hold him back but influences his music. The song itself is absolutely amazing. The lyrics were spot on and unlike most songs when someone is featured they get a small part of the song to themselves. Not this time, Carly and Adam both take turns on the chorus, and both have strong parts. The music is spot on and fits the feel and mood of the song. That is why “Good Time” by Carly Rae Jepson and Owl City is that kind of song.

Austin Mahone and Jamie Dee by Ian Zwick

Austin Mahone “Say Something” and Jamie Dee “Tip Toes”
Music Review
“Say something” by Austin Mahone is the definition of today’s music, party addictive beats accompanying this Justin Bieber/Drake type voice make this song an immediate hit. A weird combination but it works in a way that gives a fresh new look at today’s up in coming artists. The song to sum it up is about a teenager who has eyes for that special girl, a common theme in recent years. Justin Mahone is quite new with only 2 confirmed songs the other being “11:11”. “Say Something” is the kind of song where you walk into a room and when it comes on, it becomes a party. Its got a vibe that makes you want to dance, although my only complaint is that the lyrics could have been touched up. Overall Austin Mahone’s hit song “Say something” is definitely an example of a new era type song and I hope we get more similar to this song soon. Here’s a link Austin’s video.

When I first started listening to Jamie Dee’s single “Tip Toes” the thing I tried to do most was figure out whom she sounds like, who she is reminiscent to, and I concluded that she is like no one I have heard in a while. Her song is about a girl who likes a guy who has her on her “tip toes”. I personally had mixed feelings for the song itself, although I love Jamie Dee’s voice. Her song has a dance type beat to it and will definitely get you in the mood to, but at the same time I felt like the song was kind of relaxing which is strange. I also found Jamie’s Youtube channel which has most of her songs and covers. I hope to see more from her in the future and a song that really captures her beauty inside and out, and her amazing voice and range.
