Cool Gifts to Give and Get

There are some awesome gifts to give and get this holiday season.  Whether you gift yourself or your family and friends, you have lots to chose from.

x146Z340-OPolaroid’s Z340 replaced our earlier POGO Polaroid Camera and what an improvement!  We had so much fun snapping pix with this little gem and then the pictures are saved digitally so we could reprint them or upload them later. No ink cartridges to buy. The Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera features a 14.0 megapixel sensor to snap, print and share. No computer connections are needed to get 3×4″ smudge-proof, water-resistant, tear-resistant, full-color prints. You can even view, crop and edit pictures before you print thanks to the bright 2.7″ color LCD on the top of the camera. Add a fun and useful border to your photo including the Polaroid Classic Border Logo format or upload custom borders. . Print up to 25 photos per full battery charge with the option to print date and file numbers.

The paper uses the zero ink technology and is less expensive than earlier Polaroid film products.  This is a win win gift to give or receive.  Stay tuned for more highlights from our gift and give segments this month.

Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater Presents Starlight Express Held Over Another Week!

The Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater took on a most ambitious task of presenting the much loved Starlight Express (Andrew Lloyd Webber).   With a large cast of teens from all over South Florida, their version of the Broadway musical charmed the entire audience in attendance.  The entire cast roller-skates through the  show and their expertise on skates was amazing.  A tricked out set complete with ramps for skating set the stage for teens to portray train cars.  The teens were required to skate one behind the other without falling!

Kudos to Chad Coolidge whose booming voice brought life to his character of Greaseball.  Similarly Hannah Ellowitz with her silky sweet singing voice told us the story of Pearl, the observation car.   Jacob Greene as Rusty tackled a difficult part both with singing and trick skating to tell the story of Rusty the steam engine.

The crew also did a great job in avoiding accidents or falls when the cast members skated into the audience.

Our hats off to the talent cast and crew of Starlight Express!  They’ll be performing for one more weekend at the Galleria Mall in Ft Lauderdale.  Don’t forget to check them out.

The Warped Tour 2013 by Alex Goldstein

This past Saturday on July 27, 2013 at the South Florida Fairgrounds, A music festival called “ Vans Warped Tour” was held. This concert, which comes to South Florida every July, is the biggest music festival in the area next to the infamous “Ultra Music Festival.” Although the weather at one point seemed almost as if a category five hurricane struck, it would not stop these die-hard music fans from enjoying the music at this once a year event.

The many different genres of music attracted fans of all music types stemming from Rock to Dubstep to Rap. The concert lasted from 11Am-11Pm and most of these fans were there for all 12 hours. There were over 80 bands and musicians on 9 different stages including the main stage…the famous and renown Cruzan Amphitheater which holds 19,000 people alone.

Many of these music fans have waited all year for this day and surely got their share of fun as many were lined up to get autographs and take pictures with the musicians from each band. As opposed to all the other concerts I’ve been to, at this one I witnessed the most “ fan-friendly” musicians, and most of them went “crowd-surfing” and offered to take pictures with the fans as well. Since their are nine different stages, no person is strictly held to one band as they have a large variety of music to listen to. If they are not intrigued by one bands music they can simply walk to the next stage and see if they like that band a little more.

Many of the bands promoted the use of a “ mosh- pit” which is a style of dance where music fans push and slam into each other purposely. Many of the fans seemed to have the time of their lives as they were going wild in the middle of the mosh- pit. The peak of the night seemed to be “Crizzly” who was the last artist to play at the festival. Crizzly is a dubstep D.J from San Antonio Texas and is known for making dubstep remixes to the top songs out on the radio. Crizzly sure knows how to make any normal song a crazy party song. In conclusion, The Vans Warped Tour is the perfect music festival for music enthusiasts of all different genres.
